The Leadership & Management Competencies Working Group, part of ALA Core’s Leadership and Management Section, invites you to review and provide feedback on a revised set of competencies for library leaders and managers. This work builds upon the LLAMA Leadership and Management Competencies.
We want to hear from people in all library types and roles, whether or not you hold a formal leadership title. The survey takes about 15-30 minutes and asks how relevant and clear the draft competencies are, what is missing, and what would help you use them in practice.
Take the survey by November 6, 2026: https://jmu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eD8ugPbjJfdfCIK
This is a research study led by Carolyn Schubert of James Madison University (JMU IRB Protocol #IRB-FY27-213). Participation is voluntary and open to people 18 and older who work or have worked in libraries. Responses are anonymous, and you may skip questions or stop at any time. Full study information appears on the first page of the survey.
