The North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech) seeks an Electronic Resources Manager (ERM) to join the Life Science Intelligence (LSI) team.

The Life Science Intelligence team enables the success of NCBiotech staff as well as external clients in life sciences companies and organizations. This position contributes to that goal by maximizing subscription dollars for clients and the Center and by ensuring access to available subscribed resources is readily available.
The Electronic Resources Manager is responsible for developing and delivering broad access to digital information. The ERM works with the LSI team to support external contract clients in the management of their online resources. Currently this includes a multi-million-dollar portfolio. We are implementing the SirsiDynix BLUEcloud eRM to assist with these processes. Activities include:
- Managing the life cycle of electronic resources including setting up trials, submitting invoices, and troubleshooting access
- Negotiating pricing and licensing, and ensuring contract compliance of renewals of electronic resource subscriptions
- Maintaining user access to electronic resources
- Analyzing and interpreting electronic resource usage statistics
- Evaluating and conducting subscriptions assessments based on usage and user needs
- Gathering, analyzing and delivering statistical data to objectively communicate the value of resources to non-librarians, management and budget stakeholders
- Monitoring spend and budget for subscriptions
- Forecasting future budget year projections; actively working to ensure renewals meet budget goals
In addition, the ERM will participate on a variety of LSI and Center project teams and committees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience with data-driven collection analysis
- Knowledge of acquisitions processes related to electronic resources, and familiarity with selection, budgeting, vendors, and content providers
- Strong data analysis skills
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized
- Experience with troubleshooting electronic access and subscription-related problems
- Knowledge of copyright and licensing issues
- Ability to develop and maintain productive and positive relationships with vendors, publishers, subscription agents, colleagues, scientists, engineers, and laboratory staff
- Experience providing excellent customer service and technical support
- Experience with visualization tools and techniques
- Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced working knowledge of Excel
- Demonstrated sense of curiosity
Minimum Education, Skills and Experience Required
In addition to an ALA-accredited Master’s in Library or Information Science, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience, preferably in a corporate setting.

Salary and Benefits
Minimum salary: $64,000. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits offered include generous contribution to retirement (with no match required), 23 days of vacation available on your first day in addition to 10 holidays and a floating holiday of your choosing. Generous sick, bereavement and volunteer leave are also provided. The Center has a commitment to continuous learning and development, and in addition to expecting 5% of your time is spent in learning and development activities, fully funds attendance at a national conference and pays membership to one national association, usually SLA or MLA. Attendance and participation in professional associations is expected and supported.
