Position available: Associate Director for Content and Discovery

Duke University Medical Center Library & Archives is seeking applications for an innovative, collaborative, and knowledgeable librarian with a broad vision of collections and their role in scholarly communication in the health sciences. This leadership position will oversee the collections, advance research data management as a collections service, and share expertise in scholarly communication. The Associate Director for Content and Discovery is responsible for selecting, de-selecting, purchasing, licensing, and ensuring intuitive access to the Library’s electronic and print monograph and journal collections, databases, and other electronic resources. The Associate Director collaborates with staff in the Library, Archives, and across Duke University to develop relevant research data management services focusing on data description and discovery. The Associate Director also consults with researchers on scholarly communication issues, including the NIH Public Access Policy, data shari
ng, and other initiatives. As head of the resource management team, the Associate Director also supervises the Electronic Resources and Acquisitions Manager, Access Services Manager, and Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery Manager. This leadership position is a key member of the Library’s planning and management group
