VISTA Technology Services, Inc. (VISTA) is currently seeking a part-time (15 hours/week) Library Assistant. This is a hybrid position reporting onsite 2-3 days a week at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Library in Research Triangle Park, NC. The selected candidate will be a fully integrated library team member and will be trained and involved in many library operations and gain valuable experience in a science library. The Library Assistant will be part of a highly professional, friendly, and results-oriented library team.
Duties:
- Filling article requests for NIEHS researchers and for outside libraries
- Shelving books and shifting collection as needed
- Copy cataloging and physical processing of new materials
- Mailing and receiving interlibrary books
- Assisting with special projects such as processing donated materials
Qualifications:
- High School diploma
- Current enrollment in a Library and Information Science (or related) curriculum preferred
- Knowledge of library principles, concepts, and methodologies
- Ability to demonstrate strong organization and time-management skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to successfully work independently and with a team
- Demonstrated proficiency using MS Office Suite
- Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Raleigh/Durham, NC
