2015 Marguerite Abel Service Recognition Award

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association is thrilled to announce Melissa Ratajeski as the winner of the 2015 Marguerite Abel Service Recognition Award.

Melissa is the liaison to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and the dental hygiene program at the Health Sciences Library System at the University of Pittsburgh where she started work after attaining her MLIS in 2006.  She was one of the founding members of the Systematic Review Instructional Team which has launched her into service locally and nationally supporting those participating in Systematic Reviews.  Melissa also regularly publishes and presents at professional meetings.

From the nomination for this award: “Melissa recently ender her time as the MAC Chapter Council Representative for MLA’s Chapter Council this year. Melissa came to MAC when we merged with the Pittsburgh Chapter. From the beginning of her time in MAC she has made excellent contributions to the chapter. She was a strong advocate for MAC at the national level, serving as Chapter Council. She took her position as the MAC representative on a little early and has served a bit longer than normal as our Chapter Council representative. Her willingness to do this was greatly appreciated. She has been an invaluable member of the MAC Board for many years and it has been a pleasure to work with her. In addition to her work on the Board she has also chaired the Posters Committee for the 2013 Annual MAC Meeting and has been a member of the Honors and Awards Committee.”

Melissa is a Senior member of AHIP.  Melissa is a leader, professionally active, publishes and presents frequently, and is a nationally recognized educator.

Thank you, Melissa, for your contributions to MAC!
