2018 ALA Annual Program for Consumer Health Sciences Librarians
Consumer Health Sciences Librarians provides access to resources and networking opportunities for those who assist diverse populations to create a culture of health within their communities. Synergy between nontraditional partners, stakeholders, and other components that make up the neighborhoods-built environment, leverage the role of consumer health librarians’ as key figures in healthy community design.
Demands for urban neighborhoods have evolved and require a new model of thinking to the quality of life within a community. The library, as the “community center,” in the design environment is the perfect platform to advocate for the value of libraries, and to ensure that all individuals have access to the information they need to make informed decisions.
