Employee will serve as a Librarian assigned to Library Service located at the North Texas Veterans Health Care System in Dallas, TX. Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:

Recommends the extent of patient education programs and services to be offered by Library Service;

Reviews and makes recommendations for revisions and implementation of patient health program guidelines, policies and operating procedures in accordance with the most recent developments in library science;

Provides reference and research assistance to library users in support of the organizational patient education objective;

Instructs users on various electronic databases as well as print and internet resources;

Describes how to prepare briefs and handouts on library resources, both traditional and electronic;

Describes how to develop reading lists, pathfinders, and subject bibliographies to meet users needs;

Knowledge of collections development and library management including planning, selection, maintenance, and selective removal and/or replacement of material;

Utilizes automated cataloging systems and organizes (classifies) and catalogs materials to make them accessible to library users through public catalogs;

Ensures catalog records are accurate and current; and

All other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
