Annual Meeting-Call for Submissions

We are pleased to begin accepting proposals for contributed papers, lightning talks, and posters for the 2023 MAC Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA, on October 15-17!

This year’s meeting theme is Confluence. One of this word’s meanings is “a convergence of forces, ideas, or people.” So, we are excited to see how your ideas and creativity are coming together to form new innovations in medical libraries!

The deadline to submit an abstract is September 8, 2023. All abstracts must be blinded, 300 words or less, use a structured abstract format, and describe either a research project or a program. Refer to the MLA’s Structured Abstracts publication for guidelines. Authors will be notified of acceptance on September 18, 2023.

Additional information (i.e. timing, poster size, technology, etc.) will be sent after the acceptance notification. At least one presenting author must register and attend the meeting (online registration ends September 30, 2023).

If accepted, your unblinded abstract, including the Results and/or Conclusions sections, is required by October 6, 2023.

If you’re unsure whether to submit your project as a paper, poster, or lightning talk? Consider your presentation style and the nature of the material you wish to present.

  • Posters: Highly visual presentations
  • Lightning Talks: Brief, focus on one main point, and are more verbally oriented
  • Papers: Lengthier and verbally oriented

We encourage recent MLIS graduates and currently enrolled MLIS students to submit proposals. This is a great opportunity to share what you know and do in a friendly environment.
