Head Librarian – Podiatry Library

Summary:

The Health Sciences Libraries at Temple University seek a motivated, user-oriented and creative librarian to oversee library operations at the Charles E. Krauz Library, School of Podiatric Medicine. This position is responsible developing, evaluating, and providing programs and services in support of the faculty, staff and students at the School. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Head Librarian at the Charles E. Krausz Library of Podiatric Medicine is responsible for the leadership, vision and strategic development of services and programs at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM) Library. The TUSPM Library holds library resources in podiatry and related disciplines. Oversees, promotes and evaluates library services at the Charles E. Krausz Library, providing reference, research, education, and outreach services to support the clinicians, staff and students at TUSPM. Establishes effective methods of communication with constituents and stakeholders, assesses current programs and identifies opportunities for new ones, manages the budget, and supervises a medical librarian. Works as part of the larger cohort of health sciences librarians located at the Ginsburg Health Sciences Library. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s Degree in Library/Information Sciences from an ALA accredited institution. Two years professional experience in a health or science library. Experience providing reference services.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Excellent oral and written communication skills;

Ability to work collaboratively with librarians, faculty, staff, students, and administrators;

Demonstrated commitment to professional development;

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

Experience in an academic health science library environment and/or a teaching hospital library;

Demonstrated ability searching PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL or other biomedical information search systems;

Supervisory experience;

Knowledge of current thinking regarding the “library as place”;

Understanding of collection development trends;

Demonstrated organizational and project management skills.
