The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Libraries invites applications for the following positions of Executive Director, Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator, and Research and Data Science Coordinator for the Region 2 Regional Medical Library of the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM).
Regional Medical Library (Region 2)
Funded by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) through a cooperative agreement (2021-2026), the MUSC Libraries’ serves as the headquarters for Region 2, one of seven regions in the NNLM Program. Region 2 comprises Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The mission of the NNLM is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public’s health by providing U.S. researchers, health professionals, public health workforce, educators, and the public with equal access to biomedical and health information resources and data.
Executive Director, NNLM Region 2
The Executive Director provides leadership for all aspects of the Region 2 Regional Medical Library including supervising the personnel, setting direction, and managing the budget, preparing reports, and evaluating the program. The successful candidate will bring a dedication to outreach and educational programs which increase access to quality health information; be skilled in managing a high-performing unit; possess strong networking and collaborative skills; and have vision for national and regional programs that shape the future of the NNLM.
- Salary is commensurate with education/experience. $100,000 for candidate with required education and appropriate experience.
Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator
The Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator uses a community-organizing approach to engage with existing members and to recruit new members, with a special focus on underrepresented and medically underserved populations. The position serves as the main point of contact for members within the region and will work to ensure adequate resources are made available to support initiatives using NLM products and services. The position also serves as the MLA Disaster Information Specialist for the Region.
- Salary is commensurate with education/experience. Minimum of $60,000 for candidate with required education and appropriate experience.
Research and Data Science Coordinator
The Research and Data Science Coordinator develops, plans, and provides services in specified programs not limited to but including data collection and management, assessment and evaluation, and quality improvement. The Research and Data Science Coordinator supports Region 2 by leading the development and implementation of education and outreach programming for research data services for health professionals, consumers, public health workers, and other users of the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM’s) resources.
- Salary is commensurate with education/experience. Minimum of $65,000 for candidate with required education and appropriate experience.
Technology and Innovation Coordinator
The Technology and Innovation Coordinator assumes leadership for promoting the use of and integrating digital tools and strategies into network activities for the region. This position serves as the DOCLINE Coordinator.
- Salary is commensurate with education/experience. Minimum of $60,000 for candidate with required education and appropriate experience.
User Experience and Education Coordinator
The User Experience and Education Coordinator develops, plans, and provides services in specified programs not limited to but including outreach and education, health literacy, and consumer health. The User Experience and Education Coordinator supports Region 2 by developing and teaching programs and resources to health professionals, consumers, public health workers, and other users of the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM’s) resources.
- Salary is commensurate with education/experience. Minimum of $60,000 for candidate with required education and appropriate experience.
