Job Opening: Archivist at ECU Laupus Health Sciences Library
East Carolina University’s Laupus Health Sciences Library invites applications for a full-time faculty Archivist. This position will hire at the rank of Library Assistant Professor with potential to advance to Library Associate Professor and Library Professor. This position is fixed-term and non-tenure track.
The Archivist coordinates, manages, and contributes to processing and description of archival, manuscript, and historical artifact collections within the Laupus Health Sciences Library. This includes handling all needs associated with archival accessions and processing, completing description and metadata projects using national archival and preservation standards, meeting with gift-in-kind donors and researchers, designing exhibits for inside the library, exhibits in other university spaces, and online exhibits, managing needs associated with historical programs, and working collaboratively with the director of the Country Doctor Museum on managing their archival collections, collaborating on exhibits, and contributing to their programs and periodically assisting with museum tours.
The Archivist is responsible for the evaluation, selection, acquisition, receipt, care, processing, and display of historical manuscript materials and artifacts. The position conceptualizes and implements library historical services; conducts ongoing assessments of the library historical collections and needs; and develops blog posts, LibGuides and other research and promotional material, as needed.
The Archivist reports to the Assistant Director of Collections & Historical Services and works closely with the Director of the Country Doctor Museum.
Initial appointment is a one (1) year fixed-term contract; subsequent renewal may be for a multi-year fixed-term contract. Comprehensive benefits package includes 24 days annual leave, 12 holidays, 12 days sick leave, 1 day of personal observance leave, and 24 hours of community service leave; FSIL leave, health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance; and support for professional development and training. Hybrid and flexible work arrangements are also available.
Salary range is $56,000-$65,000.
