Job opportunities at Geisinger Health Sciences Libraries in northeastern PA

The Geisinger Academic Health Sciences Libraries are implementing a new vision for providing specialized services to meet the information needs of the Geisinger community. We are currently recruiting informationists to engage with students, faculty, clinicians, and researchers to optimize access to and use of information in their work processes. The informationist team will develop and deliver innovative services, information products, and tools that enable clients to effectively identify and use information in teaching and learning, patient care, and research. Each informationist will focus on a specific client community in the areas of education, clinical practice, or research. The team will also contribute to the libraries’ initiative to implement a robust digital platform for delivering services to clients throughout the Geisinger enterprise. Other responsibilities include working with departments and project groups to meet specific information needs, developing and delivering instruction, participating in the libraries’ research service, and collaborating to develop user-focused collections.

ABOUT THE GEISINGER LIBRARIES: Libraries at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and the Geisinger Health System recently joined together as part of the larger integration of the two organizations. The Geisinger Academic Health Sciences Libraries provide services and collections to optimize teaching and learning, patient care, and research. As part of Geisinger’s educational mission, the libraries serve faculty, staff, and learners throughout the system. Led by the Associate Dean for Library Services in the School of Medicine, the libraries operate under the office of the Dean of the School of Medicine and Chief Academic Office of Geisinger. Library facilities are located at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA; Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Scranton, PA: Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA; and Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital, Harrisburg, PA.
