Associate Head, Research Engagement

The NC State University Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Head in the Research Engagement department. The Associate Head shares management responsibility for the department, supervises assigned librarians, and represents the department in the absence of the Head. S/He provides a leadership role in the department, and, in conjunction with the Associate Head of Learning Spaces & Services, coordinates elements of the Libraries’ workshop and seminar portfolio aimed at building digital research skills in areas such as data analysis, visualization, emerging research skills, bibliometrics, and citation management. S/He provides expert services for faculty, staff, and students across the research lifecycle, including information discovery, data curation, visualization, research computing, and scholarly communication. The incumbent serves as a liaison to the Graduate School and leads the Peer Scholars Program, and serves as a liaison to one or more academic departments in the sciences. S/He provides instruction on research skills and data literacy and engages in ongoing development and implementation of innovative pedagogical practices. S/He collaborates with Collections & Research Strategy librarians in collection development and assessment activities. This position participates in library planning; serves on library-wide committees, task forces, and teams. The Associate Head is expected to be active professionally and to contribute to developments in the field.
