Responsibilities
The Incumbent provides administrative management and training in support of the educational program in the services located at, Baltimore VA Medical Center. The Administrative Librarian will report to the Education Service Chief/Designated Learning Officer (DLO) and is the education services Incumbent applies expert knowledge of library automation and information handling to the design, development, operation and maintenance of the automated library system at the assigned Library. Coordinates evolution of the integrated library system used at the library with system designers, analysts, programmers, and library automation specialists. Duties of the position include but are not limited to:

*   Formulate and execute plans and procedures for acquiring library materials both foreign and domestic, in accordance with the missions needs, pertinent regulations, and current research and development trends.
*   Maintains acquisition files for all library materials on order, not limited to including; blanket purchase agreement direct orders, subscription renewals, and deposit accounts.
*   Initiates and recommends local polices for classification and cataloging, both subject and descriptive of all library materials regardless of format, Based on analysis of user requirements assigned proper classification and decides extent of cataloging information and descriptors required.
*   Applies expert knowledge of library automation and information handling to the design, development, operations and maintenance of the automated library systems at the assigned library.
*   Coordinates evolution of the integrated library system used at the library with system designers, analysis, programmers, and library automation specialist.
*   Acts as technical expert in defining functional parameters to be incorporated into the system to maintain state- of- the art capabilities to include full Boolean search, capability, full authority control, support for multiple record typed, and to assure adherence with national library and automated standards.
