Job Posting: Assistant Director, HEALWA, Seattle, WA

The Position

The University of Washington Health Sciences Library seeks an innovative librarian with expertise in instruction, outreach, and clinical health information to join the Health Evidence Resource for Washington State (HEALWA) program.  The mission of HEALWA is to provide evidence-based health information to licensed healthcare providers across Washington.  HEALWA is the only statewide evidence-based health information portal in the country accessible to all eligible licensed and credentialed healthcare providers across the state.  HEALWA provides access to resources including: electronic textbooks, evidence-based healthcare databases, healthcare full-text journals, and multidisciplinary journals at http://heal-wa.org.  There are currently over 150,000 eligible users.  The program is funded by a contract from the Washington State Department of Health.

The Assistant Director will promote evidence-based practice and health literacy skills and access to quality clinical information.  Duties will include: leading the web portal development and promotion, providing support for contract negotiation, identifying resources, developing resource training modules, communicating with stakeholders including the Washington State Department of Health and health care professionals.  The Assistant Director will work closely with staff in the Washington State Department of Health Contracts Office and Health Professions and Facilities headquartered in Olympia, WA.  The position responsibilities include regular travel to Olympia and other cities across the state of Washington to conduct trainings, teach workshops, exhibit, and present at local and state association meetings.
