Biomedical Sciences Liaison Librarian, UVA Health, Charlottesville, VA
We are currently recruiting a Biomedical Sciences Liaison Librarian to join our team at UVA Health/University of Virginia in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia.
We are seeking a dynamic, collegial professional to serve as the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library liaison to support the research mission of UVA Health. The liaison serves as the primary contact for biomedical researchers, supporting their research and data-related endeavors.
Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with other CMHSL liaisons and contributes to a professional, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
- Serves as the primary library liaison to biomedical research faculty, staff, and students, actively engaging with these groups to identify needs, provide support, and create services to further the research mission of UVA Health.
- Provides expertise on successful approaches to scientific data management and sharing and the application of guiding principles such as FAIR, working both independently and collaboratively as a member of the library’s Research and Data Services team.
- Provides guidance for data-related practices and tools related to the research life cycle, such as data documentation, data management (e.g. through electronic lab notebooks), and data sharing, especially in response to funder mandates.
- Provides expertise and support for biomedical information retrieval and management, including expert literature searching services and instruction on library resources and technologies.
- Utilizes research impact indicators, bibliometrics, and digital identifiers such as ORCID to assist individual researchers and teams in tracking publications and demonstrating impact.
- Supports open access and open science practices through consultations, training, advocacy, and collaboration.
- Collaborates with other liaison librarians to ensure provision of library information services across UVA Health as a member of the library’s Mission Team.
- Participates in regional and/or national professional organizations related to academic librarianship and liaison role and displays a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Pursues research in job related area of interest. Shares scholarly/creative pursuits internally and at the regional, national and/or international level.
- Participates in library-wide initiatives, including strategic planning, and engages in creative thinking to devise innovative library services.
