Job Posting: Clinical Reference Librarian Position – Mercer University School of Medicine Macon campus
The Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) Library seeks a full-time Clinical Reference Librarian. This position would work half-time at the MUSM Library and half-time at the Navicent Health Resource Center. [See the official posting: https://www.mercerjobs.com/postings/401 ]
The MUSM Library reference position responsibilities include: providing reference, information, and instructional services for the MUSM library. This position also plays an active role in public services planning and team projects by assisting in identifying or developing information resources for electronic services offered by the Library.
The Clinical Librarian position serves as an information expert for Navicent Health staff including, residents, faculty, attending physicians, pharmacists, nurses and students. The librarian will manage the Navicent Docline account by updating routing tables, SERHOLD, etc. The librarian will also manage and maintain a link resolver for online resources, and negotiate licensing of library resources. The librarian will provide collection development for the center and weed resources as necessary. This position will also promote and market the library. The clinical librarian will report to the Director of the Mercer Medical Library and indirectly report to the Navicent Health Employee Development Manager.
Some evening and weekend hours and some travel may be required.
The successful applicant will hold an ALA-accredited master’s degree in library science with a minimum of two years of experience in a health sciences library. Additional job skills include: a strong customer service orientation; hands on computer, Internet and database searching experience; reference bibliographic instructions background; teaching experience; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work and collaborate with a diverse population in a team setting; ability to work independently; and good organization skills.
Desirable qualifications include experience working in a hospital and medical library; Supervisory experience; Knowledge of Sierra, Docline and medical library databases preferred; evidence of initiative and flexibility; success in obtaining grant funding.
