Position Announcement:  Education and Outreach Librarian, Samuel J. Wood Library of Weill Cornell Medicine

The Samuel J. Wood Library and the C.V. Starr Biomedical Information Center is the information hub of Weill Cornell Medicine, and comprised of a dynamic team that works closely with Weill Cornell faculty, researchers, educators, clinicians and students to anticipate information needs, integrate information into user processes, and reduce administrative burden. This dynamic team is seeking an additional member who will oversee administrative oversight of the Samuel J. Wood Library’s education and outreach initiatives, managing, organizing and facilitating a variety of educational activities that may appear social in nature. This individual will also provide expert support in scholarly communications, participate on the grant editing team, and support evidence-based practice including systematic reviews, biomedical literature searching, and information management to the communities of Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM), NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH), and affiliates.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Information, Education and Clinical Services, the Education and Outreach Librarian (EOL) will partner with other dynamic team members to offer a robust library presence within the Medical School and Graduate School curriculums, as well as planning a variety of additional training opportunities, from Tech Tuesdays to Data Carpentry to WCM’s annual Technology Fair entitled SMARTFest.

A Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution is required. Candidates must have the ability to meet WCMC requirements for appointment at the academic rank of Assistant Librarian, including a record of professional achievement, research/scholarship and service.
Experience in an academic medical center library, with an understanding of modern medical education, research, and clinical care is critical. Most important, we are seeking a candidate with strong instructional designer expertise, the ability to collaborate with faculty and colleagues to advance the library educational mission. Such a candidate will have a mature sense of priorities and be able to manage the various responsibilities this position entails.

Salary, while negotiable, is commensurate with experience.
