Mayo Clinic seeks an innovative, experienced medical librarian with an inviting personality and winsome communication skills. The Mayo Clinic Libraries are recruiting a service-focused Health Sciences Librarian (Librarian III) to collaborate as a member of Mayo Clinic Libraries’ professional library team. The Health Services Librarian is a full-time, mid-level position where the librarian will perform professional activities encompassing library science, information management, and information technology. To qualify for this position, candidates should have an advanced competency in searching medical and scientific literature and the delivery of relevant information to patrons.

Proactive library outreach and quality library instruction, accompanied by excellent customer service, will be used to serve learners and foster new professional relationships. Public services responsibilities include the provision of research assistance, literature searches, instruction, consultations and other educational services to support faculty, students, affiliated health professionals and other staff members. Knowledge and experience providing technical services and archival management are not required.

Working at Saint Marys Staff Library, the Health Sciences Librarian (Librarian III) will primarily serve and cultivate dynamic relationships with clinicians, researchers, rotating clinical students and hospital-based staff working on advanced degrees to support patient care, learning and research productivity. The candidate will report to Librarian/Supervisor of the Saint Marys Staff Library.

Qualifications:

*        A minimum of a master’s degree from an ALA accredited master’s degree is required.

*        A minimum of 3 years of experience as Librarian II or comparable professional library experience.

*        Library experience, particularly work experience in a hospital, health sciences or scientific research library is required.

*        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, flexibility, and common sense.

*        Commitment to excellent customer service and quality improvement.

*        Ability to work well in a team-based and self-directed work environment.

*        Willingness to independently accomplish special projects. Commitment to career development and relevant continuing education.

Preferred Experience and/or Qualifications:

*        Experience as a hospital librarian.

*        Experience providing systematic review services.

*        AHIP membership or an additional advanced degree in subject area pertinent to the position.

*        Academic appointment with current employer.

*        History of relevant scholarly publications, presentations and participation in professional associations.

Exemption status – Exempt

Compensation Detail – Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approximately $2,214.40, based on a full-time position. The annual salary range is approximately $57,500 to $86,400, based on a full-time position.

To support Mayo Clinic’s efforts in attracting highly qualified candidates to the organization, travel and relocation assistance are available for eligible individuals located a minimum of 70 miles away from the work site.

Schedule details – Primarily works standard daytime business hours on Mondays through Fridays.
