Instruction & Technology Librarian

Basic Function:
Enables students, faculty, and staff to access information, particularly nursing and allied health and consumer health, through a variety of means, including paper and electronic formats, both on-site and from off campus. Assumes responsibility for: providing and assessing in-person and online library instruction, overall management of library technology support, providing in-person, and online reference services. Provides circulation desk services, participates in collection development, library planning, and campus/college activities and committees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Enhance the library user experience by providing a comprehensive program of information literacy instruction and information support services onsite and virtually, using online learning modules, videos, and virtual reference. Develops and maintains instruction assessments. Forecasts, develops, implements, and evaluates electronic services and emerging library technologies. Acts as liaison to campus IT department. Supervises the Library Technology Specialist. Provides online and in-person reference services. Provides circulation desk coverage. Serves on the Library Management Team. Assists with collection development. Serves on division, campus, and college committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS), Library and Information Science (MLIS), or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in library science or library & information science coursework.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of all aspects of current academic library services, including integrated library systems, reference and instruction, collection development, and technical user support. Demonstrated experience developing tutorials or other research/instructional tools. Awareness of current issues and trends in library information technology and user experience. Coursework or experience with web page and social media design and software, virtual reference and instruction, and use of mobile devices. Experience using course management systems, online collaborative productivity tools, and content management systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff. Enthusiastic public service orientation and commitment to providing user-centered services.
Required KSAs:
Knowledge of library systems and practices. demonstrated ability to provide effective library instruction and excellent customer service. good organizational, technology, verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of office productivity software such as MS Office. Knowledge of emerging and existing library technologies, including: course management and tutorial creation software, and social networking tools. Knowledge of SpringShare products, including LibGuides.
