Darnall Medical Library, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, MD, has a GS-12 librarian vacancy which will be posted on USAJOBS.gov from Friday, September 26 – Thursday, October 9. All US citizens will be eligible to apply. This biomedical and research librarian position will cover the reference desk and respond to clinical queries affecting direct patient care, but a primary duty will be to build a comprehensive research service from scratch. We seek an energetic and outgoing person who will actively engage the WRNMMC research community and explore new ways to support that community throughout the research lifecycle. We will set you up for success. We want you to shine.
Application packages must reflect experience applying guidelines and standards to support biomedical researchers with systematic reviews and meta-analyses; assisting researchers with the grant application process and compliance with open-access policies; searching evidence-based information to respond to the clinical needs and queries of medical and nursing staff; and providing instruction in biomedical and other relevant databases. Please note that an external human resources specialist – who will be looking for specific keywords and named systems listed in the job announcement – will perform the initial review of applications.
We hope the research service will eventually expand to include data management/curation, bioinformatics, and the creation of an institutional repository. Candidates eager to take advantage of the educational opportunities in these areas will have a decided advantage during the interview stage.
