The University Libraries at Georgia Regents University are building a team of collaborative, forward-thinking colleagues dedicated to providing excellent services to students, faculty, and community. The primary focus of this non-tenure track faculty position is to serve as Head Librarian of Reese Library, serving a primarily undergraduate campus of Georgia Regents University. The successful candidate will be technologically sophisticated, committed to problem solving, and dedicated to building the university into a comprehensive research university. The position oversees management of the unit, supervising approximately 20 faculty and staff.
Working within the general guidance of the Director of University Libraries, the Head Librarian of Reese Library will be a member of the Director’s Leadership Team that assumes responsibility for collaborative leadership, management, and decision making. The Reese Library Head Librarian will play an active role in defining and implementing the strategic goals for advancing library programs and services in support of the university’s rapidly evolving research, education, and public service mission.
Georgia Regents University is a thriving academic medical center that in the past decade has logged a 48 percent increase in student applications, a 25 percent increase in student enrollment and a 146 percent increase in sponsored research. The university’s Medical College of Georgia, the 13th oldest medical school in the country, was founded in 1828.
The GRU main campus is in Augusta, Georgia’s second-largest city. The city was recently ranked the second most favorable place to live in the state. Augusta is within an easy three-hour drive of Atlanta, the University of Georgia, the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains. It is a growing and thriving city with a metropolitan-area population of around 400,000.

Effective January 9, 2013, Georgia Health Sciences University consolidated with Augusta State University to become Georgia Regents University. The consolidated university consists of nine colleges on two campuses. The Health Sciences Campus consists of the Medical College of Georgia, College of Dental Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Allied Health Sciences, and the College of Graduate Studies. The Summerville Campus consists of the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Hull College of Business; College of Education; and College of Science and Mathematics.

Responsibilities
Work with the Director of Libraries and other campus administrators, students, faculty, and staff to ensure the highest levels of professional library services and academic support.
Recruit, develop and retain qualified and engaged academic support employees.
Support the faculty in their teaching, research, and student learning objectives.
Promote the use of library facilities and resources, recognizing that Reese Library exists within national, university, and local communities.
Maintain a strong library assessment and evaluation environment and lead the library in strategic planning activities.
Oversee the Reese library budget, following Board of Regents and university standards.
Develop and apply for additional funding opportunities such as national grants.
Serve the university on campus, regional, and national committees, including accreditation efforts.
Participate in shared governance.

Minimum Requirements
Must possess an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited Master¿s degree.
Must possess proven supervisory, management skills.
Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
A demonstrated ability to work with all constituencies.
Rapid understanding of new technologies and their adaptation toward university and library service.
A clear understanding of trends within undergraduate higher education.
Extensive experience with integrated library systems.
5 years post-MLIS progressively responsible experience.

Preferred
Advanced degree.
Library instruction and reference experience.
Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
Experience with the Ex Libris Voyager system and the EBSCO discovery tool.
Ability to analyze statistical reports and make evidence-based recommendations.
Experience with policy development.
