VA NY Harbor Healthcare System welcomes applicants for the position of Research and Education Librarian / Veteran Health Education Coordinator.  See the full job announcement and apply online through USAJOBS at https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/590983700.

Reporting to the Chief of Learning Resources and the VHANYH Whole Health Steering Committee, the Research and Education Librarian/Veteran Health Education Coordinator will play an integral role in the development of VHANYH’s Veteran Health Education and Information Program and the implementation of Whole Health at the VA Brooklyn Learning Resources Center. More information on VA Whole Health is available at https://www.va.gov/wholehealth/.

The incumbent will join a diverse staff of two librarians, two program analysts, a health coach, a visual information specialist, a training specialist, and a technician.  The service also runs a paid, two year consumer health informatics internship through the VA Technical Career Field Program which will fully support the Research and Education Librarian / Veteran Health Education Coordinator.  This new position also has the full support of a highly interdisciplinary Prevention team that understands the significance of information literacy in Veteran health literacy, and welcomes a health information professional in a role that is traditionally held by a clinician.

These positions close fast:  the vacancy announcement went live on Tuesday, and will be removed from the USAJOBS website after Monday, February 8th.  Librarians with patient education and program/project management experience who are interested in joining a dynamic work group are highly encouraged to apply!

Although all materials must be submitted through the USAJOBS website, I’d be happy to answer any questions about this position.
