Science and Data Literacy Liaison Librarian Dickinson College, Carlisle PA
The Waidner-Spahr Library of Dickinson College seeks an outstanding and dynamic Science and Data Literacy Liaison Librarian who is dedicated to excellence in teaching and will help to shape our educational programming. This librarian will develop and deliver course-integrated information literacy sessions in collaboration with faculty members and assess student learning. Audiences include first-year college students (via our highly active and award-winning First Year Seminar instruction program), and undergraduate students in the sciences. The liaison will develop good working relationships with faculty members in assigned departments as well as with the college’s Quantitative Reasoning Center, which supports students in courses with mathematical content.
The Science and Data Literacy Liaison Librarian will develop an in-depth knowledge of the college’s curriculum that will inform classroom teaching. Candidates should have experience with improving teaching and learning through regular formative and summative assessment. The liaison also engages in outreach and the marketing of library services. This position involves regular reference duties and occasional evening and weekend work. This librarian will participate in making some collections decisions for assigned departments.

Dickinson College is dedicated to providing students with individual support and a personalized undergraduate experience. For the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work is possible with this position; however, post-pandemic, information literacy sessions, research consultations, and other library services will be delivered primarily in person.
Requirements:
MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution
At least 2 years of post-graduate experience teaching information literacy
Significant, demonstrable talent for developing and delivering information literacy/research instruction with evidence of using active learning techniques, preferably including first-year undergraduate audiences
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge of outcomes assessment techniques
Demonstrated ability to work well independently as well as in teams
Preferences:
A degree in the sciences (bachelor’s or above)
Experience with instructional technology tools such as Captivate, Screencast-o-Matic, LibApps (specifically LibWizard), and Moodle
