JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision from the Director of the Library but with considerable independence, the librarian will lead the systematic review service working towards continuous improvement to better serve the research population at Wake Forest Baptist Health (WFBH.) As a medical center liaison, the librarian will work closely with
designated departments at WFBH to further integrate information literacy. The librarian will collaborate with others at Carpenter Library, and possibly with colleagues from Wake Forest University.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in Library Science from an accredited American Library Association School, three years’ experience in an academic or medical library and two years’ experience with systematic reviews.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead systematic review service including setting policies and procedures and assessing service value
Train others in systematic reviews to ensure quality of service
Coordinate with other units for systematic review-related support, e.g., interlibrary loan, full-text retrieval
Conduct systematic reviews and assign to others as needed
Provide reference service and in-depth consultations
Stay current with trends in medical education and in systematic review process
Engage in professional and/or subject discipline organizations, research or publishing that will have a
significant, positive impact on the Carpenter Library, and advance the strategic plans of the library and the
university.
Market library resources and services through personal Research Guides, newsletters, web page, and
departmental visits.
Participate in the Clinical Medical Liaison program. Attend meetings in designated clinical department(s),
providing instruction on medical literature searching for clinical problems, bibliographic management
supporting publishing efforts, and showcasing clinical resources provided by library
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Effective oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development
Evidence of participation in research teams as a peer, such as publication record, preferably including a
systematic review
Experience in using citation management software such as EndNote
Knowledge of Cochrane, Web of Science, Embase and PubMed
Familiarity with evidence-based practice (EBM), including clinical teaching, clinical care, and EBM resources,
including their utility/vitality
Experience in developing collaborations and outreach external to the library
