MAC Diversity Survey- Be Part of the Story: Complete the Survey

This is a reminder to ask you to participate in the MLA/MAC survey in the link below. Participation is voluntary.

If you participated in the previous survey last year, please also complete this current survey, since this one has new and updated questions. Please let Brenda Linares know if you are experiencing issues with the survey link.

Please read the information below about the purpose of the survey.


We are conducting a survey to find out more about the demographic composition of our membership and members’ experiences with diversity and inclusion, which is a top priority for the Medical Library Association.

For purposes of this survey, “diversity” has been defined by the MAC Diversity Task Group as “a collection of individual attributes that together help agencies pursue organizational objectives efficiently and effectively. These include, but are not limited to, characteristics such as national origin, language, race, color, disability, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, veteran status, and family structure. The concept also encompasses differences among people concerning where they are from, where they have lived, and their different thoughts and life experiences.

The Task Group has not defined additional terms used in the survey so that you may individually interpret your responses.

The survey will require approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. We plan to present the results of this survey to the MAC Executive Board and share them at the MAC 2017 conference in Staunton, VA, as well as any other related activities as appropriate.

Your responses to this survey will be completely anonymous and aggregated so no one reading the results will be able to identify you. To ensure that all information remains confidential, personal names, names of institutions, or other identifiers will not be requested. Please do not include any names or identifying information in any open-ended responses.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Institutional Review Board has reviewed this study (IRB #17-0815). Participation is strictly voluntary and you may discontinue your participation at any time. There is no direct compensation for responding nor is there any known risk.
