MAC Retiree: Katherine Rickett
Katherine Rickett will be retiring from the Laupus Library at East Carolina University onOctober 1, 2014.
Katherine earned her MSLS at the Catholic University of America, and her MSEd from Old Dominion University. She has worked as a health sciences librarian in hospital, public, and academic libraries. In 2006 she joined the staff of Laupus Library, East Carolina University, as a Liaison to the Brody School of Medicine.
Katherine was in the first class of Catholic University of America’s Virginia Program – an early distance learning program where CUA brought the professors to the students. She was a graduate assistant for the Program, and during her on-campus residency, she had to opportunity to do an independent study with the Regional Medical Library. She is a member of Beta Phi Mu, MLA, and MAC/MLA, and former member of THSL, the Tidewater Health Sciences Librarians, called the initial meeting of VACoHSL, the Virginia Council of Health Sciences Librarians, and was instrumental in its formation.
While she will greatly miss her work as a health sciences librarian, she is definitely looking forward to having the opportunity to travel and pursue other interests while, hopefully, making a dent in that towering stack of books she always meant to read….
