MAC Student Vision Scholarship Report

Attending the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association Conference this year was an incredibly impactful experience. As a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I was honored to receive the MAC Student Vision Scholarship, which eased the burden of hotel and registration costs and made it possible for me to attend and present my research on prompt engineering in health sciences and health librarianship. Sharing my work with such a knowledgeable and supportive audience was exciting and the thoughtful feedback and engaging conversations that followed, opened new directions for my research.

The energy throughout the conference was truly inspiring. I especially enjoyed the lightning talks and keynote sessions, which offered valuable insights into the diverse pathways within librarianship and information science. I met wonderful information scientists and  librarians who were generous with their advice and candid about their career journeys. As a student, it was reassuring to learn that there is no single “right” way to build a career in this field.

I am deeply grateful to David Nolfi, Alyssa Young, Beverly Murphy and the entire MAC/MLA community for the Student Vision Scholarship, the warm welcome, and this life-changing experience. I am determined to give back through mentoring, volunteering, and sharing what I have learned at future conferences and within the library and information science community. I left the conference profoundly inspired, and it is an event I will always remember.
