The Medical Librarian is responsible for performing literature research in the health sciences field including conducting systematic and comprehensive searches of electronic databases, investigating the suitability and cost of resources, ordering publications and maintaining reference manager databases. They will also assist with the administration of the CAP Records and Information Center.
We are looking for an individual with the ability to review, analyze, evaluate and organize information, strong and effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to exercise good judgment. Experience working with confidential and restricted records desirable. Familiarity with MeSH headings, medical terminology, syntax, filters, and Boolean logic required for systematic and comprehensive searches for information, including searches of Medline and other electronic bibliographic databases, experience using reference management applications, expertise in online database searching and experience with content management systems.
ALA-accredited master’s degree in library/information science with additional course work or equivalent training in medical librarianship or background in biomedical or health sciences required. Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a health sciences environment preferred. Knowledge of current and emerging core and secondary databases and experience locating sources of grey literature. AHIP (Academy of Health Information Professionals) certification ideal. Some travel is required for this role.
