MLA/CDS Richards Prize nominations sought

The Collection Development Section is seeking nominations for the Daniel T. Richards Prize of $250.00 for writing related to health sciences collection development. The Richards Prize will be presented to an individual who created a work in any format related to collecting in the health sciences. This work must be widely accessible to the library community and written or produced within the last two years. The Daniel T. Richards Prize is presented annually to an individual who has authored a work, in any format (print, audiovisual, electronic, etc.), related to collection development in the health sciences. The work must be widely available to the library community and written or produced within the previous 24 months. If a work is nominated in its first year of eligibility but is not awarded the prize, it may be nominated again in its second year of eligibility. In the event there is more than one author, an award certificate will be given to each author, and the cash award of $250.00 will be divided among the authors.

The deadline for nominations is February 1, 2019 at 5:00 PM central time. Self-nominations are acceptable. Nominations need to include complete names of authors, addresses, institutional affiliations, and the complete citation along with a final version of the work. E-mail  nominations to Carol Seiler, Awards Committee Chair at cseiler AT Notification to the winner and the winner’s institution, and announcements in Developments and MLA News will be made prior to the annual MLA meeting in Chicago.
