REDCap offers a practical way to get involved in data services, a new and growing field of library services. REDCap is a web-based application for building and managing online surveys, forms, and databases used by over 2,500 educational institutions and hospitals. By learning REDCap, you will be able to serve medical and research communities by teaching them how to use REDCap and have a tool you can use yourself to collect data. You do not need technical knowledge to use REDCap, and it is free to many institutions.
Presenter, Fred LaPolla is a knowledge management librarian at New York University (NYU) Langone Health’s Health Sciences Library. He works on the data services team providing education in REDCap and data visualization.

Librarians, Get What You Want!
Lessons in Influence from the Business World http://www.medlib-ed.org/products/1536/librarians-get-what-you-want-lessons-in-influence-from-the-business-world
January 25, 2018, 1:00pm–2:30pm, central time
Getting your message heard by your library’s leaders is essential for your personal success and for the health and growth of your library. Few financial and business decision-makers recognize the real value of their libraries or speak “library.” Many librarians lack skills to communicate to leaders in ways they understand. “Librarians, Get What You Want!,” led by a librarian and a business leader, shows you how to combine librarian knowledge with proven business techniques to create influence with the decision-makers in your institution. You will engage case examples and brainstorm strategies for communicating your value to your bosses. This webinar will benefit any librarian who seeks greater influence in their organization.
Presenters, Lisa K. Traditi, AHIP, is associate professor and deputy director at the Health Sciences Library of the University of Colorado (CU) Anschutz Medical Campus–Aurora. She was a hospital librarian for nine years in the Denver metro area before starting at CU in 1996.
