NNLM webinars on health insurance literacy and diversity, equity and inclusion

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine Pacific Northwest Region is hosting 2 free webinars on October 16. Unable to attend the live sessions? They will be recorded and posted on the NNLM PNR home webpage.

Being a Better Ally to All: Every organization has a group of stakeholders, staff, and volunteers who must foster effective communication through conflict, change, and crisis. With increased comfort and confidence, you can be prepared to hold and encourage others to have the challenging conversations that lead to better collaboration and teamwork. Developing a culture based on listening, speaking up, and taking responsibility builds teams of cooperation for the short- and long-term. This is part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Nine Conversations that Matter to Health Sciences Librarians with Jessica Pettitt series. October 16 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time (please adjust to your time zone).  Registration is encouraged.

Health Insurance Literacy and How Librarians Can Help: Libraries are prominent places in communities making libraries and librarians excellent resources for advancing health information literacy. For example, librarians can address the unmet information needs that leave many unable to make appropriate health insurance choices. For those with lower levels of health insurance literacy, the ability to procure appropriate levels of health insurance coverage may be limited, which can have dire effects on individuals’ health statuses. Emily Vardell, Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Management at Emporia State University will be presenting on this PNR Rendezvous webinar session. October 16 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time (please adjust to your time zone). Registration is encouraged.
