Pacific Northwest Chapter-MLA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee Speaker Series
The Pacific Northwest Chapter-MLA formed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee to build awareness and action items to support DEI awareness in our community. I am reaching out to other chapters asking if there are any ideas and initiatives your chapter is considering related to this important topic. If you would not mind sharing these, I would collect them in one document to share among all the chapters.
One of our initiatives is a Speaker Series focused on health equity and diversity. In October, Dr. Vanessa Simonds shared her work with the Apsáalooke community. Her community based participatory research was focused on increasing children’s water-related, health literacy, a valuable resource in the region.
