Reminder: Call for Proposals, MAC/MLA Meeting Oct 19-21, ‘25 in Baltimore, MD
The MACMLA Program Committee invites you to submit proposals for contributed papers, posters, and lightning talks for the MAC/MLA Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, from October 19-21, 2025.
Our theme, “Spice Up the Library: Thinking Outside the Box,” will highlight the many creative endeavors of our attendees. Please share your work in education, research, clinical practice, outreach, collections, and more. Feel free to refer to past MAC/MLA annual meetings for previous examples of contributed content.
Please submit a 300-word maximum anonymized abstract through this form, following the structured abstract format for research submissions or the format for program descriptions for non-research submissions. The anonymized abstract must not include any specific information that would identify authors or institutions.
The deadline for paper, poster, and lightning talk abstract submissions is August 1, 2025 (by 11:59 p.m. EST).
Contributed content will be evaluated on originality, innovation, organization, and clarity of presentation. Research papers and posters will be judged and are eligible for an award.
Authors will be notified by August 22, 2025.
If accepted, you will be asked to submit the following by the specified dates:
- A non-anonymized abstract (by September 12, 2025)
- Presentation materials (e.g., presentation PowerPoint slides, poster PDF) (by October 10, 2025)
- Pre-recorded presentation (by October 10, 2025)
Please note, if accepted, at least one author must register and present in person at the Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.
Unsure whether to submit your project as a paper, poster, or lightning talk?
Consider your presentation style and the nature of the material you wish to present.
- Posters: Highly visual presentations
- Lightning Talks: Brief, focus on one main point, and are more verbally oriented
- Papers: Lengthier and verbally oriented
We strongly encourage new career librarians, first-time MAC attendees, recent MLIS graduates, and currently enrolled MLIS students to submit proposals. This is a great opportunity to share what you know and do it in a friendly environment! MACMLA offers a scholarship for both new members and students, with applications due by September 12th.
For questions, please contact committee chair Heidi Reis (reish21@ecu.edu) or Helen-Ann Brown Epstein (hepstein@virtua.org).
