This is a reminder about our next SCR CONNECTions webinar. The session will be held Wednesday, November 8 at 10am CT / 9am MT, and the topic will be Partnering with Community Health Workers presented by Dr. Fernando Martinez of San Antonio.

Title: Partnering with Community Health Workers Guest Speaker: Fernando Martinez, PhD, Professor and Coordinator of the Community Health Worker Program at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, Texas

Description: Community Health Workers (CHWs) play a crucial role in improving the health literacy of their communities. They have a unique understanding of those they serve and can facilitate communication and trust. By partnering with CHWs, libraries can improve the effectiveness of their community health outreach initiatives. Learn more about the role that CHWs play in their communities and how to develop fruitful partnerships.
Speaker Bio: Dr. Martinez has an extensive background in hospital administration, community health worker programs and education. He was an administrator at Christus Santa Rosa Health Care in San Antonio where he designed and implemented a community wellness and outreach program consisting of a mobile health clinic, neighborhood health promoters, community health nurse educators, lay case workers, a pediatric primary care clinic, inner-city physician recruitment, patient transportation, geriatric resource center, and a patient information system. This was the first hospital-based community outreach program in San Antonio.
Dr. Martinez has earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, University of New Mexico, Master of Science in Environmental Management, University of San Antonio, Master of Healthcare Administration, Baylor University and Ph.D., in Education Leadership, University of Texas, Austin.
This webinar will be eligible for one hour of Medical Library Association (MLA) Continuing Education credit and will be archived for future viewing.
