Seeking librarians to participate: Attitudinal Attributes of Professionalism Among Health Sciences Librarians Study
Hello:
This survey was previously disseminated on June 11th. If you’ve already completed the survey, please accept my sincerest thanks and delete this email as no further involvement is requested. If you have not completed the questionnaires, please take the time (the survey takes 15 minutes to complete) to consider helping me with this important research. Upon completion of the online questionnaires, your name will be entered into a drawing to win one of (2) $50.00 Visa gift cards. Winners will be notified individually via email.
My name is Rachel Koenig and I am a health sciences librarian employed at the Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University. I am interested in conducting an investigation into the professionalization of health sciences librarianship. Recently, health sciences librarianship has witnessed an increasing variety of educational and experiential requirements to enter the occupation. The study, which is supported by the MLA Research, Development, and Demonstration Project Grant, is proposed to understand the effect of change on attitudes toward professionalism in health sciences librarians.
You are being invited to participate to assure inclusion of a broad sample of individuals with varying backgrounds from many different institutional settings. Although the online questionnaires only take about fifteen minutes to complete, the information you can contribute is fundamental to the success of this project.
Completion of the questionnaires constitutes your willingness to participate in the study. The questionnaire responses will remain completely anonymous at all times. All information gathered from subjects will be reported as group data, further disassociating any individualized characteristics from being identified within the sample. Neither individuals nor libraries will be identifiable in the final report. This project has been approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Virginia Commonwealth University – Study HM20013052. If you have any questions about your rights as a participant, please contact the VCU Office of Research Subjects Protection at (804) 828-0868.
As an additional incentive, we are offering (2) $50 Visa gift cards, randomly selected, for those who complete the survey. When you finish the online questionnaires, you may choose to enter your name into the drawing. Winners will be notified individually via email after the survey closes. Email addresses will only be used for the drawing. This data will not be included in any analysis and will be exported to ensure anonymity.
If you are interested, please visit the following survey link: https://redcap.vcu.edu/surveys/?s=YA4NFYNLE8 The survey will be open until July 15th.
Your participation is important to determining a current and accurate picture of attitudes toward professionalism among health sciences librarians.
Thank you,
