Sewell APHA Travel Stipend Call for Applicants

Is your position related to public health? Would you like an opportunity to immerse yourself in the public health field for a few days? Then you need to apply for the Sewell Travel Award for Public Health and attend the 2018 American Public Health Association Annual Meeting and Expo. This year’s meeting theme is “Creating the Healthiest Nation: Health Equity Now.” The meeting will be held Nov. 10 – 14 in San Diego, CA.

We anticipate funding approximately 8 non-local librarians (at least $1,235) and 2 local librarians (at least $730). The award will reimburse you for the cost of APHA membership and early-bird conference registration. Non-local librarians receive additional funds to help offset the cost associated with travel.

The eligibility requirements are below.

  • be a librarian or information specialist with an MLS/MLIS or equivalent degree;
  • work with or have accepted a librarian/information specialist position that now includes, or will include in the near future, working with public health practitioners or PH/PH-related students, staff, and faculty; and
  • be a United States citizen or have permanent resident status (i.e., a holder of a green card)
