This position is located at the VA Medical Center in Bedford, MA and serves as Coordinator of Library Services for the VA New England Health Care System (VANEHS). The KIS (Knowledge Information Service) Coordinator directs the KIS program and staff, along with the operational and strategic development of the KIS programs within eight Medical Centers and their associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
◦Supervises and manages knowledge-based systems and services relevant to the VISN1 clinical, research and management needs;
◦Plans and implements KIS services, eResources, and programs;
◦Oversees the efficient operation and develops measurable goals for Library and ◦Knowledge Management Services;
◦Collaborates with VA Central Office Library Network Office (LNO) to support
◦Federal purchase planning and coordination among VALNET (VA Library Network) Members;
◦Provides technical and administrative supervision to a unit of 15 Librarians (GS 9 to 13) and Technical Information Specialists employed in the KIS;
◦Oversees the daily operation of the KIS and ensures agency policies and priorities are followed;
◦Develops performance standards and evaluates the work performance of Subordinates;
◦Leads recruitment efforts and participates in formal orientation sessions for new staff;
◦Develops and presents annual budget proposals and manages allocations and expenditures for KIS procurements;
◦Works with Online Resource Coordinator, Designated Learning Officer, Chief Information Officer, Informatics Officer as well as relevant CPRS/VISTA developers regarding strategic information tools, menu resources and integrated Knowledge Systems;
◦Performs other related duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
