Upcoming MLA/AAHSL/AMIA Joint Symposium

A one-day symposium, “Achieving Meaningful Use: Using Standards to Bring Medical Information to Practitioners and Patients,” will take place November 15 in Washington DC. This symposium is jointly sponsored by the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), MLA, and the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) and will be held immediately prior to the fall AMIA 2013 Annual Symposium. It brings together members of the three medical information societies to discuss a topic of mutual importance: achieving meaningful use in terms of both practitioner and patient systems and services.

The keynote speaker will be Marc Overhage, chief medical informatics officer, Siemens Healthcare, and member, Meaningful Use Workgroup, US Health IT Policy Committee. The three panel discussions will be “The Role of Standard Vocabularies in Meaningful Use,” “InfoButtons and Meaningful Use,” and “Informationist and Rounding Services by Libraries.” Register now.
