Electronic health records are challenging to implement and use, but this pales in comparison to the challenge of making different systems talk to each other. Dr. Minakshi Tikoo of UCONN Health will describe these challenges and offer some suggestions on how to surmount them.
Another option for managing health records is to have patients manage them themselves. Simone Myrie of the ONC will talk about the Blue Button initiative, designed to help individuals access and manage their health information.
