2008-2009 MAC Student Intern

From: Pat Hammond

Please welcome new member, Jennifer McDaniel! She is the MAC student intern for 2008 – 2009. Information about this opportunity is posted on our website. (http://macmla.org/pd/internship.html) As a member of the Professional Development Committee, she will help plan the continuing education offerings during the 2009 Tri-Chapter Annual Meeting.

Jennifer McDaniel is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Library Science at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and French at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Currently, she works as the cataloging/reserves specialist for the Himmelfarb Library of the George Washington University Medical Center. As well as being named an ARL Diversity Scholar this year, Jennifer was recently awarded the Catherine A. Jones Memorial Scholarship by the DC Chapter of the Special Libraries Association.  Her professional memberships include the Special Libraries Association (DC Chapter), the Medical Library Association (Mid-Atlantic Chapter, Professional Development), and the Association of Christian Librarians.  In her spare time, she is the Potomac Chapter representative for the Sacred Dance Guild and enjoys active participation in the Fredericksburg Sacred Dance Ensemble.  The MAC internship interested her because of the opportunity it provides to meet with and learn from regional health information professionals, in addition to better understanding the work involved in planning professional development opportunities.
