2014 Marguerite Abel Service Recognition Award
The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association is excited to announce David Nolfi as the winner of the 2014 Marguerite Abel Service Recognition Award.
David is the Health Sciences Librarian and Library Assessment Coordinator at Duquesne University’s Gumberg Library. To quote a nomination for this award, “David goes above and beyond with all things MAC.” David has been a member of MAC since the merger and had been a member of the Pittsburgh Chapter since 1990. He served as Co-Chair of the 2013 MAC annual meeting in Pittsburgh, as well as a member of the MAC Membership and Recruitment Committee. As Co-Chair of the MAC 2013 meeting, he was efficient, precise and a pleasure to work with. He tirelessly strove to ensure that the meeting ran smoothly. During his tenure as MAC Board Chair-Elect and currently as Chair, he has shown himself to be very meticulous and thorough as well as positive and fair. Another person added “Beyond David’s work coordinating the first MAC meeting in Pittsburgh and chairing MAC this year, I believe part of his legacy is also his work in mentoring young professionals and facilitating opportunities to get them involved with MAC. He has provided many people with opportunities to start assuming leadership positions in MAC and MLA through nominations and recommendations. He has also been supportive to those people while they learned to negotiate and manage those new leadership opportunities. Because of these efforts, David’s service to the organization, even in just this couple of years, will continue to benefit MAC for years to come.” Thank you, David, for your contributions to MAC!
