Carolyn Schubert, 2014 MAC Award for Professional Excellence by a New Health Sciences Librarian

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association is very happy to announce the winner of the 2014 MAC Award for Professional Excellence by a New Health Sciences Librarian is Carolyn Schubert.

Carolyn is the Health Sciences and Nursing Librarian at James Madison University. Where her work has been described as exemplary. She serves her population fully and often goes above and beyond in order to strengthen relationships and demonstrate the value the JMU Libraries.  Carolyn approaches every part of her professional life with energy, creativity, and fresh excitement and is always willing to take on new challenges and expand her skill-set.   Carolyn has served MAC in several capacities including, but not limited to: Communications Committee member and Chair, MAC Messages Editor, and Honors and Awards Committee Member.  She also served on the 2013 Annual Meeting’s committee and led efforts to encourage social media use as part of the event. Carolyn then took this experience and used it to represent MAC at a national level. Following the 2013 MAC annual meeting, she presented at poster at MLA 2014 called, “Enriching Conference Participation Using Social Media at #macmla2013.” Additionally, Carolyn was elected the Treasurer of MLA’s Nursing and Allied Health Resources Section, and began serving her three-year term in May.  She also takes care to share her experiences with the profession through her publications, presentations, and service to MAC and MLA.  Congratulations Carolyn!
