2023 Annual LAUNC-CH Conference: Call for proposals

The Library Association at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (LAUNC-CH) has extended the deadline for proposals for the virtual 2023 LAUNC-CH Conference, scheduled for Monday, March 13, 2023.   The deadline for proposals is now Monday, January 16, 2023.

The 2023 conference theme is:

Breaking Down Silos: Strengthening Our Organizations through Collaboration

The conference committee is calling for presentations and workshops that examine how we work across departments, institutions, and communities to propel our work, our patrons, and our organizations toward greater achievements.

We are particularly interested in 20 or 40-minute presentations and workshops that cover:

  • Physical and figurative silos among our campuses and libraries
  • How we use Zoom to meet and reach out more easily
  • Attracting new visitors and users who do not typically use our services
  • Collaborating with staff, departments, communities, etc. to create programing and projects
  • Addressing filter bubbles and echo chambers
  • The role of libraries in information literacy
  • Work addressing the polarization of America
  • Teaching people how to think not what to think
  • Starting a new job virtually (building community with colleagues in a virtual environment)
  • Library spaces used in unconventional ways

We also invite posters that feature research or work related to the conference theme.

Please submit your presentations, workshops, or poster proposals at: https://go.unc.edu/LAUNCCHproposal

If you have any questions, or if you are wondering whether your topic fits the conference theme, please contact us at launcchconference@gmail.com.

Preference for presentations, workshops, and posters will be given to proposals that match the conference theme, although other topics will be considered. We welcome proposals from library employees at and beyond UNC-Chapel Hill. We strongly encourage submissions from public libraries, special libraries, and academic institutions outside of the Triangle.

Please submit proposals by January 16, 2023.

LAUNC-CH is committed to making this conference accessible for all attendees. Once we accept a proposal, we will ask that all presentation materials (slides, documents, images, etc.) meet WCAG accessibility standards. For best results, provide material in Word or PowerPoint, utilizing the accessibility checkers and correction tools those applications provide. For guidance please visit: https://digitalaccessibility.unc.edu/resources/documents/. A conference liaison will be on call to help you if you need assistance.
