Call for Panelists: Peer Review of Evidence Synthesis Searches

Dear MAC/MLA Members,

Are you experienced in the peer review process for systematic review or other evidence synthesis searches? Or have you recently engaged in this process and want to share your perspective? The Mid-Atlantic Chapter is organizing a panel discussion at the MAC/MLA conference in October to explore current practices, challenges, and future directions in peer reviewing systematic search strategies, and we’re looking for panelists!

What we’re looking for:
We welcome librarians with a range of experience—whether you’ve conducted peer reviews using tools like PRESS, developed institutional workflows, or simply have insights into how this process impacts research quality. We’re especially interested in:

  • Those who regularly conduct peer reviews of systematic searches
  • Those who have received peer reviews and can share what was most helpful
  • Practitioners implementing or refining peer review processes in their institutions

If you’re interested in being a panelist—or would like to nominate a colleague—please reply to via email to emilyjoseph@jhu.edu by August 15 with a brief statement of interest and relevant experience.

Let’s learn from each other and strengthen our collective understanding of this vital aspect of evidence-based research!

Warm regards,
Emily Gorman and Emily Joseph
Co-chairs, MACMLA’25 Annual Meeting
