MAC/MLA Call for Proposals October 19-21, 2026 Virtual Meeting

The Contributed Content Committees invite you to submit proposals for contributed papers, posters, lightning talks, and panels for the virtual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association on October 19-21, 2026. Our theme, “Strengthening Partnerships, Adapting, Connecting, and Empowering” reminds us that our work continues to have significant reach and impact, even through virtual settings.

Please share your work in education, research, clinical practice, outreach, collections, and more. Please refer to past MAC/MLA [macmla.org] annual meetings for previous examples of contributed content.

Please submit a 300-word maximum anonymized abstract through this form [forms.gle] following the structured abstract format [mlanet.org] from MLA’s Research Section. The anonymized abstract must not include any specific information that would identify authors or institutions.

The deadline for paper, poster, lightning talk, and panel abstract submissions is July 31, 2026 (by 11:59 p.m. EST).

Contributed content will be evaluated on originality, innovation, organization, and clarity of presentation. Research papers and posters will be judged and eligible for a cash award from MAC’s Research and Assessment Committee. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection by August 21, 2026.

If accepted, you will be asked to submit the following by the specified dates:

·         An unblinded abstract by September 11, 2026

·         Presentation materials (e.g., presentation PowerPoint slides, poster PDF) by October 9, 2026

Please note, if accepted, at least one author must register for the virtual conference and attend the day of the presentation.

Unsure whether to submit your project as a panel, paper, poster, or lightning talk?

Consider your presentation style and the nature of the material you wish to present.

·         Posters: Highly visual presentations

·         Lightning Talks: Brief, focus on one main point

·         Papers: Longer presentation with more detail

·         Panel: 45 minute to 1 hour session with multiple presenters and discussion on a single topic

We strongly encourage new career librarians, first-time MAC attendees, recent MLIS graduates and currently enrolled MLIS students to submit proposals. This is a great opportunity to share what you know and do it in a friendly environment!

For questions, please contact Andrea Shipper (shipper@rowan.edu) or Steph Hendren (stephanie.hendren@duke.edu).
