Health Sciences Data Steward Position at UNC

The Research Data Management Core (RDMC) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) is accepting applications for a Health Sciences Data Steward position. RDMC is a new campus unit that was established by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research in response to new and forthcoming data policies issued by major federal funding agencies, and to create opportunities to harness UNC’s data assets for AI and other emergent research techniques. RDMC has been charged with building a campus-wide data ecosystem of expertise, services, and technology to support and promote data management and sharing standards and best practices throughout the research lifecycle.

The Health Sciences Data Steward will be instrumental in setting the campus agenda for data management and sharing through strategic planning, policy development, needs assessment, and service deployment. This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career professional who is eager to make a significant impact on a major university’s response to current and forthcoming data management and sharing mandates, as well as its preparations for enabling next-generation research to maximize the value of data produced at UNC.

This is a repost of the position, which has been updated to target talented information professionals who have applied knowledge in health sciences research data management, curation, and archiving principles and techniques, with experience serving in roles that address the critical issues and challenges of managing and sharing clinical and health-related data (e.g., informed consent and human participant confidentiality, good clinical practice, large-scale genomic and core facility-generated data, metadata standardization) specifically.  Ideal candidates are also keenly aware of trends in policy, technology, and research methods that impact data management and sharing practices and expectations in health sciences and related disciplines.  Please note that this is not a data analyst position.

The annual salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $110,000 to $130,000. Applications will be accepted until June 28, 2024. To learn more and apply, please follow the link below:
