Essential Functions
POSITION SUMMARY:

Develop and lead the community outreach programs and initiatives of the Bernard Becker Medical Library.  To support the School of Medicine’s community engagement mission, the Becker Library develops programs and partnerships with campus groups and community organizations to promote the use and accessibility of credible health information resources for patients and the public.  This position will be responsible for connecting with community-engaged researchers, health care providers, patient education groups, and community organizations to identify opportunities for enhancing the delivery of health information to diverse audiences and developing training and resources to support those efforts.  This position will also support the public health information needs of researchers and students on the School of Medicine campus and identifying opportunities for the library to improve and enhance its programs and services in this area.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish partnerships with relevant groups and organizations to promote awareness and provide training on credible health information resources.
• Collaborate with WUSM clinicians and researchers engaged in community outreach to assist with identifying and promoting relevant sources of reliable and accessible health information.
• Work with the St. Louis Public Library and Program for the Elimination of Cancer Disparities on an ongoing project to enhance consumer health information materials and services available through the public library.
• Develop and provide customized training on credible health information resources for community and professional groups, health organizations, and health providers.
• Work with Brown School of Social Work librarians to support library and information needs of students enrolled in the Masters in Public Health program.
• Participate in library and university committees/projects to maintain effective library resources and services.


Required Qualifications
Equivalent of MS in Library Science or related area, with ability to handle library programs and supervisory responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of health information resources.
• Experience in developing and delivering training for diverse audiences.
• Experience in libraries and/or education setting.
• Experience in public health services.
• Experience in patient or consumer health education.

Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is $42,705 to $55,517 annually.
