Job Posting: Librarian, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Chicago, IL

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is seeking an experienced, self-motivated information specialist with expertise in medical library services. In this critical position, you will work closely with Knowledge Center registered dietitians and other Academy professional staff on a wide variety of information services and special projects.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and a thorough knowledge of bibliographic databases such as PubMed, inter-library loan networks and other online information resources. Experience in developing and conducting educational training sessions is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manages document delivery and interlibrary loan services, including conducting literature searches, fulfilling requests, and coordinating interlibrary loan program with other libraries and consortia
  • In consultation with Evidence Analysis Library (EAL) analysts and staff, creates search strategies, manages information retrieval and provides recommendations for EAL projects
  • Provides in-person, telephone and virtual reference services for Academy staff and members
  • Develops and conducts educational sessions for members and staff on use of bibliographic databases, information retrieval and manuscript preparation

Requirements

The Academy is looking for an individual with four or more years experience as a medical librarian in a medical library or similar library setting with a Master’s Degree in library science. The ideal candidate will be skilled in conducting literature and resource searches for nutrition, medical, business and consumer health information, as well as organizing and communicating information. Proficiency with online databases such as PubMed, interlibrary loan networks such as DOCLINE and OCLC and MS Office suite of products is an essential requirement.
