The National Network of Libraries of Medicine-South Central Region (NN/LM SCR) http://nnlm.gov/scr/ , located at the Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library (HAM-TMC Library), is seeking an outgoing and energetic librarian to fill the Public Health Coordinator position.
The Public Health Coordinator works with public health professionals, including state and local health departments, librarians and health care providers throughout a five-state Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas). This professional promotes the databases of
the National Library of Medicine (NLM), including MedlinePlus, phpartners.org and PubMed. In addition, this librarian will coordinate initiatives such as health literacy and outreach to refugee health organizations.
The Public Health Coordinator exhibits at national and regional conferences to promote NLM databases, and develops and teaches classes on locating health information on the Internet.
MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library school; a minimum of two years’ experience working in a library; experience with NLM databases and products; demonstrated teaching and training experience; excellent written and oral communications skills.
Travel (20%) throughout a five-state region (AR, LA, NM, OK, and TX) is required.

Salary: $42,000 – $53,000 annually and is commensurate with experience.
